My father, 2Lt. Donald L. Shawver, was a bombadier in the 408th BS. His bomb log showed two planes lost on 26 Dec 1944 and 5 aircraft accidents on bombing mission 361-A22 to Clark Field, Phillipines. From 22 Oct 44 to 16 Jul 1945 these were the only planes shown as lost on missions that Dad flew with the 408th. A bomb log from 19th Sq 22BG showed a plane lost 15 May 45, 31 May 1945, ? June 1945, 12 June 1945, and another lost 18 June 1945. Dad's "Shoo-Shoo Baby" was one of the two planes lost on 26 Dec 1944. His crew bailed safely. Dad passed away 1999. Hope this helps. |
