Pictured at Walla Walla Army Air Field, Washington with B-24 Liberator #467 is one of the crews that flew her while learning the four engine bomber's characteristics. At the same time, the officers and airmen learned to work as a team. Shortly after the photo was made, the crew traveled to Hamilton Army Air Field, California. After the pilot signed for a new B-24 the men island hopped to the Combat Replacement Training Center (CRTC) at Nadzab, Papua, New Guinea. After a short stay the crew was Sent to Samar, one of the Pilippine Islands where the crew was assigned to the 22bd Bomb Group, 19th Squadron. Lt. Robert Hanisch, pilot, is at the left, top row. The identity of the other officers is unknown.
